Many potential homebuyers are considering the luxury homes for sale in Sarasota.
Boating, golf, museums, 5-star restaurants, world-class shopping, 35 miles of pristine white-sand beaches, and the many marvelous homes for sale in Sarasota combine to make the city’s charms virtually irresistible. Money Magazine has named Sarasota "America's Best Small City," and adjacent Siesta Beach was ranked in 2011 as "America's Number One Beach." Sarasota is one of America's "Top Ten Moving Destinations" according to annual surveys by Penske Truck Rentals. The city is also America's top retirement destination, according to a 2012 study released by TopRetirements.Com. Everyone loves a visit to splendid Sarasota, and many Sarasota residents first arrived as visitors.
But for the long haul, is a move to Sarasota right for you personally? Will you able to patronize your favorite retailers, locate the schools you or your family will need to attend, or find the medical facilities you may depend on? If you own pets or horses, can you meet their needs sufficiently in Sarasota? Let’s take a look.
Retail: A number of upscale retailers are finding Sarasota attractive. Hundreds came out in September for the opening of Trader Joe's; the Sarasota site is one of only two Florida locations for the trendy, upscale grocer. A month earlier, the grand opening of Costco's at Westfield Sarasota Square Mall was also attended by a multitude of shoppers. And this spring, P. F. Chang's, a top restaurant chain that's been absent in Sarasota, opens a 270-seat restaurant. Immediately north of Sarasota, University Parkway is the site of the now-under-construction University Town Center, set to open in 2014 with Macy's, Dillards, Saks Fifth Avenue, Cartier, Abercrombie & Fitch, and over 100 additional upscale retailers.
Healthcare: Sarasota’s healthcare community includes award-winning hospitals, noteworthy medical research, and two medical schools producing the next generation of doctors. Top doctors come to Sarasota for the quality of the facilities and the professionals who will be their peers. Doctors Hospital of Sarasota features an award-winning heart care and chest pain center recognized as an Accredited Chest Pain Center (CPC) by the Society of Cardiovascular Care. Sarasota Memorial is named in the nation’s top 1% of hospitals for consistent excellence, earning a spot on the “America’s 50 Best Hospitals” list published by HealthGrades. Sarasota Memorial is also on U.S. News & World Report's 50 Best Hospitals list for 2012.
Education: The Sarasota County Public School District serves more than 40,000 students and offers a number of special and charter schools including the acclaimed Pine View School for the Gifted and the Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences. Sarasota, of course, is the home of the world-famous Ringling College of Art and Design. The scenic 35-acre campus draws students from 43 states and 23 nations. The College is private, non-profit, fully accredited, and offers a Bachelor's degree in 14 arts-related disciplines. A range of arts education opportunities for students at every age and skill level is also available at many local galleries and community centers. Additionally, the University of South Florida’s Sarasota-Manatee campus is just north of downtown Sarasota, and a State College of Florida campus is set in Lakewood Ranch near University Parkway and Interstate 75.
Libraries: Complementing Sarasota’s superlative schools, Sarasota's County Library System was recognized as the “2012 Library of the Year” by the Florida Library Association. Sarasota County’s 9 libraries serve over 2.5 million residents and visitors annually.
Animals: Sarasota has emerged as an exceptional community for horse lovers and equestrian neighborhoods. Several charming equestrian communities are set immediately east of Sarasota. Sarasota is also a paradise beloved by dogs and their owners. Possibly no other community offers so many dog parks and beaches, activities and obedience classes, trainers, groomers, boarding facilities, and top-notch veterinarians.
Healthcare, schools and more: whatever your personal requirements may be, it’s more than likely they can be met in fabulous Sarasota.
