Sarasota Bayfront Park
One of the perks of buying a luxury condo in Sarasota's downtown is proximity to Sarasota Bayfront Park (Island Park), which offers outstanding waterfront views as well as opportunities to play and relax, right at the heart of city's incredible arts and culture. Within walking distance to Sarasota's Main Street, Bayfront Park is a favorite oasis for Sarasota residents and visitors alike.
Bayfront Park overlooks Sarasota Bay from its location at Gulfstream and Ringling Boulevards. The park is surrounded by water; flanked by the marina to the north and by private anchored boats to the south. Here you can enjoy views of Siesta Key, Lido Key, Longboat Key, and Bird Key, as well as the John Ringling Bridge. Simply turn around to view the sparkling Sarasota skyline. Park benches under beautiful Banyan trees offer old Florida-style shade - some even swing under the branches. A lovely expanse of grass at the park's center is perfect for sunning or reading.
Just for Fun
Feel free to wade right into the water at Bayfront Park - just don't be surprised to see jumping dolphins. The Bayfront is home to one of the largest dolphin populations in the area. A paved walking path around the park is popular with bikers, skateboarders and rollerbladers. Rousing games of frisbee or touch-football take place on the grass. The Park has boat docks and canoe/kayak launch. Jet skis and paddleboats can be rented from O'Leary's; any type of boat is available for rental from the marina. You can even take a sunset dolphin cruise right from the park on Sarasota's own LeBarge.
Kid & Pet Friendly
Your kids will love Bayfront Park, too. The park has a playground as well as a fountain park which shoots water from playful animal statues - a great way for both parents and kids to stay cool on hot days. Bayfront Park is dog-friendly, too, and one of the best places in town to bring your pooch to socialize, exercise, or simply show-off.
Arts & Events
Bayfront Park is also home to seasonal events, including the CoExist Art Exhibit and the yearly Sculpture exhibit which draw entries both locally and globally. The Christmas boat parade sails around Bayfront Park, and the fireworks majestically explode over the Park at times of celebration.
Food & Dining
Sarasota's iconic Marina Jack, located right at Bayfront Park, is a great place to buy a drink and watch the boats go by. For more casual fare, O'Leary's offers sandwiches, burgers, salads, as well as a tiki bar for adult beverages. Picnic tables are scattered around the park.
