Flower Streets
Just a few miles south of official “downtown” is an extremely desirable community simply known as “the Flower Streets” or the Hillview district. As its nickname would imply, the streets surrounding this part of town bear names such as Magnolia, Oleander, Orchid and Rose. These streets offer a wide variety of home options, from new, grand Spanish Mediterranean homes to older, Victorian looking homes. What they all share is a terrific location – close to downtown, the beaches, and all the amenities on 41, yet on quiet, tree lined and serene streets.
This district is popular with doctors and professionals, as the Sarasota Memorial Hospital is within minutes. This world-renowned hospital provides excellent medical care and attracts top professionals – the surrounding streets certainly lend to the attraction.
Nestled behind the hospital is an enclave of wonderful little restaurants, clubs and shops. This is a popular destination for professionals to mingle; not to mention being a great spot to sip a glass of wine at an outdoor table and watch the world go by. Sam Snead’s is a local favorite, as is the 5 O’Clock Club up the street. Newer to Sarasota but equally as popular is the trendy Pacific Rim restaurant which boasts delicious Thai food and sushi which is often raved about as the best in town.
This area of town caters to a certain lifestyle; professionals willing to pay a bit more to live close to work, walk to great restaurants and still be minutes from Main Street and the beaches.
