Kayaking Lido Key’s Mangrove Tunnels!
Kayaking Lido Key’s Mangrove Tunnels!

Last weekend we went for a great paddle through the famous mangrove tunnels on the bay side of Lido Key, just off Sarasota, Florida. Wildlife is abundant, with fish practically jumping in the boat and many species of birds including herons, osprey, and bald eagle.
The is also a nature trail that can be hiked in less than an hour and beautiful Lido Beach is steps away!
There are five main tunnels that are heavily canopied by mangroves, to the point that it is almost dark inside! After that, we went to Crescent Beach on Siesta Key for a swim. Awesome day!

Lido Key is home to a couple of attractions not often seen in Sarasota – the beachront tiki bar at the Lido Beach Resort; and the public pool, directly on the beach mid-key. A walk along North Lido will allow you to wander through protected dunes and wild grass; while South Lido Beach Park offers beautiful pines to shelter you from the sun while you picnic, canoe, kayak and fish. A canoe/kayak launch is available, guaranteeing an easy transition into the crystal clear waters of the Bay and Gulf, and the Lido mangrove tunnels. [...]
